September 29, 2007
According to San Jose Business Journal, US flash storage card supplier SanDisk announced on September 27 the inauguration of its first flash memory assembly and testing plant - named SanDisk Semiconductor - in Shanghai's Zizhu Industrial-based Science Park. Covering an area of 34,000 square meters, this new facility will be dedicated to the production of SiP (System-in-a-Package) components, which incorporate flash memory die and other chips, for use in mobile phones requiring small form factor. The capacity of this facility is expected to account for about 30% of SanDisk's overall global demand for SiP products.
